Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have questions? We have answers.

Whether your concerns relate to the nature of our work, our rates, the legality of our investigations, or our operational procedures, we have gathered here the most frequent questions—along with clear and concise answers.

For any other inquiries, feel free to contact us: we will respond promptly and with complete confidentiality.

What Are Your Areas of Specialization?

We specialize in field investigations. These assignments—detailed on our homepage—are carried out for both private individuals and businesses.

We also conduct online investigations, meeting the demands of an increasingly digital world.

How Do You Guarantee the Confidentiality of My Case?

Confidentiality is at the core of our work as private investigators. We therefore use encrypted systems for data storage and secure communication channels for all exchanges.

In addition, we follow strict internal protocols that ensure both discretion and security of all information handled.

What Is Your Experience and Training?

The AGOP private investigation agency relies on recognized expertise, notably thanks to specialized operational intelligence training provided by the EYESBERG Institute. This certification reinforces the rigor and effectiveness of our field operations.

With more than 25 years of experience, our founder first spent a decade at the French Protection Service before applying his skills to prestigious clients in Geneva. He now brings this dual expertise to every investigation—carried out with rigor, discretion, and professionalism.

How Does a Typical Investigation Work?

When you decide to work with us, we follow a structured 5-step process. This includes an initial meeting, a feasibility assessment, approval of a quote, the investigation itself, and finally the delivery of a clear and detailed report.
Each step is designed to ensure accurate answers and reliable evidence, while maintaining absolute confidentiality.

For more details, we invite you to consult Step 4 of the “5 Essential Steps to Discover the Truth.”

Do You Offer Online Quotes?

No. Generic online quotes rarely reflect the true nature of the work required or the final cost of an investigation.

At AGOP, every case is unique; a serious evaluation requires a preliminary discussion, whether by phone or in person.
Our priority is to dedicate our time to a rigorous analysis of each situation and to client satisfaction—not to producing approximate online estimates.

What Are Your Rates?

Our fees range from CHF 100 to CHF 150 per hour, before taxes.
This rate depends on the complexity of the investigation, the time involved, and the human and technical resources deployed.

For more details, please see the page “Private Investigator Rates in Geneva.”

Which Payment Methods Do You Accept?

To ensure client satisfaction, we accept ONLY the following payment methods:

  • Bank transfers
  • Stripe (accepted cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express)
  • Cash payments (within the legal limit)
  • Cryptocurrency (Bitcoin ONLY)

Please note that we do not accept any payment method other than those listed above.

Are You Licensed?

Yes. The AGOP private investigation agency is licensed by both the Republic and Canton of Geneva and the Republic and Canton of Neuchâtel.

How Long Does an Investigation Usually Take?

The duration of an investigation depends on several factors, such as the complexity of the case, the resources deployed, and the objectives to be met.

Every situation is unique, making it difficult to provide an accurate estimate without knowing the specifics of your case.

How Will You Keep Me Informed of the Investigation’s Progress?

We keep you regularly updated on the progress of the investigation, either by phone or via encrypted messaging.

If necessary, daily updates may be provided to keep you informed before the final report is delivered.

What Methods and Equipment Do You Use?

Although our investigative methods fully comply with the law, we prefer not to disclose them for reasons of discretion and confidentiality.

Our equipment plays a key role in our work. We use high-end tools to ensure optimal efficiency in all investigations entrusted to us.

We generally use a car or scooter for travel, adapting our means of transport to the requirements and discretion of each assignment.

Is It Legal to Hire a Private Investigator in Switzerland?

Yes, it is entirely legal to hire a private investigator in Switzerland. However, the request must be legitimate and justified, and the investigator must comply with both legal requirements and the ethical standards of the profession.

What Is the Difference Between a Private Investigator and the Police?

A private investigator is an independent professional, hired by private individuals or businesses to collect specific evidence or information within a strict legal framework.
Investigations typically concern personal or civil matters: family issues, commercial disputes, unfair competition, fraud, or people searches.

Unlike the police, a private investigator works on a private mandate and uses his own investigative methods and tools. Thanks to his experience, he adapts to each situation like a true “Swiss Army knife” of investigation, capable of acting with rigor and discretion even in complex situations.

The police, however, is a public authority responsible for ensuring safety, enforcing the law, and conducting criminal investigations under the supervision of the public prosecutor. Its resources are state-controlled, governed by criminal procedure, and aimed at prosecuting offenses.

A private investigator intervenes where police action stops: in civil or private matters, where uncovering the truth depends on the initiative of the client rather than a judicial process.

Can You Testify in Court if Necessary?

Absolutely. Private investigators can testify in court. Their report—if consistent with privacy laws and the rights of the defense—may be considered. It is then up to the judge to assess the relevance of this testimony based on the specifics of the case.

Are There Situations or Requests You Cannot Handle?

Although our agency is experienced and able to handle a wide range of requests, certain situations may fall outside our scope or violate professional ethics.

For example, we cannot handle requests that unjustifiably violate privacy, are illegal, or could endanger someone’s safety.

Additionally, some investigations may require resources or expertise that we do not possess internally.
In such cases, we direct you to trusted specialists or partners while advising you on the best approach.

To assess the feasibility of your case, please consult Step 2 of the “5 Essential Steps to Discover the Truth.”

What Type of Report Do You Provide at the End of the Investigation?

At the conclusion of the investigation, we provide a detailed and time-stamped report, including photos and/or videos collected during the investigation.
This document—designed to defend your interests in court—is objective, confidential, and complies strictly with privacy laws.

Although admissibility depends on the judge and applicable case law, reports prepared by private investigators are generally considered.
For more information, see Step 5 of the “5 Essential Steps to Discover the Truth.”

Is It Possible to Meet You in Person Before Making a Decision?

Absolutely. We strongly recommend an in-person meeting in an appropriate and confidential setting to discuss your needs.

To learn more about the importance of this initial contact, please refer to Step 1 of the “5 Essential Steps to Discover the Truth.”

Do You Guarantee Specific Results?

In private investigation work, there is no obligation of results, but an obligation of means. This means we must do everything possible to conduct the investigation with the highest level of professionalism and attention to detail.

However, we cannot promise or guarantee a specific outcome, as results depend on how the investigation unfolds and on the unique circumstances of each case. Our professional ethics strictly prohibit such promises.
It is essential to understand this distinction.

Be vigilant!

Beware of websites that claim to guarantee results or success rates. In private investigation, guaranteeing a specific outcome is impossible, as results depend heavily on the information discovered during the investigation and on circumstances unique to each case.
Such promises may be misleading and do not reflect the ethical and rigorous standards of a true professional.

How Can I Be Sure You Will Handle the Investigation Ethically and Professionally?

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in every assignment entrusted to us. Our agency’s reputation is built on seriousness, transparency, and dedication.

You can have full confidence in our approach, whether your investigation is personal or professional.

What Are Your Availability Options? Can You Work Urgently or on Weekends if Needed?

Yes, we are available to take on your investigation quickly, including urgent matters, weekends, and public holidays.

However, immediate availability may depend on current commitments, as we prioritize and complete ongoing investigations to ensure full client satisfaction.
In the rare event we are not available, this information is clearly indicated on our website.

Do You Work With Both Male and Female Investigators?

Absolutely. We work with male and female investigators depending on the specific needs of each investigation and when the situation requires it.

Why Are There No Testimonials or Reviews on Your Website?

AGOP is committed to delivering quality services with transparency and integrity. This is why you will not find testimonials or customer reviews displayed on our website. Here’s why:

Reliability of Reviews

It is difficult to guarantee the authenticity of online reviews. Rather than displaying reviews that could be falsified or exaggerated, we choose not to publish any.
However, clients are free to leave a review on Google if they wish.

Client Anonymity

In private investigation, publishing testimonials is delicate, as most clients wish to preserve their anonymity.
It is therefore normal for a serious agency to have few public reviews.

It is not the number of reviews that defines the reputation of a private investigator, but the quality, rigor, and discretion with which each assignment is conducted.

Trust and Integrity

We believe that the best way to earn your trust is to provide impeccable services—rather than convincing you with testimonials whose authenticity could be questioned.
